Isaiah Holt, a sophomore from Chelsea recently attended BASICS at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. Basics is a leadership workshop hosted by the Oklahoma Association of Student Council in which CHS STU-CO is a member and officer. The delegates are from all over the state of Oklahoma. They spent 10-12 hours daily learning and practicing leadership skills in student council groups.
Isaiah had this to say about BASICS. "It has allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. I learned that it is alright to be genuine to yourself and not to worry about judgement. BASICS is more than a camp to me, it has become a lifestyle and to be a better person."
Also attending was Pam Phillips who is one of CHS STU-CO advisors. " BASICS is not a camp, it is a workshop. I was so fortunate to attend as an intern advisor and look forward to many more years of working for the OASC. The time and effort put into each student was amazing. They came in as strangers and left as a family. I am also happy to report CHS has two more students attending in the July session as well as my co-advisor.Thank you to all who supported these students during the fundraising event in April."
"Come to the edge," they said. "It is too high," we said.
"Come to the edge," they said. "We might fall," we said.
"Come to the edge," they said, So we came- They pushed us- And we flew. by Christopher Logue.
Great job Isaiah and Pam on representing Chelsea Schools!!!

Middle School summer school students went to RSU today to learn about drones. Students learned about different career opportunities that involve drones, took The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) through the FAA, worked on coding a drone to perform certain functions and participated in an obstacle course flying a drone. Samantha Sharpe came in 1st place, Johnny Alsdurf came in 2nd and Devon Stedman came in 3rd in the obstacle course. It was a great day! Thank you RSU for providing this opportunity.

CMS Boys summer basketball schedule is attached. There will be practice tomorrow May 24th from 8-9:30. It is not on the schedule.

The 2024-25 FAFSA will not be available until December, 2023. We do not know the exact release date at this point.
Students and parents will no longer be able to create an FSA ID (username and password) the same day they are submitting their FAFSAs. Personal identifying information (PII) must go through a match with other government agencies, and the matching process can take two to three days. It’s imperative that students and parents create their FSA IDs at least two to three days before they submit their FAFSAs.
Depending on the parents’ marital status, both parents may have to create their own FSA ID in order to electronically sign a dependent student’s FAFSA. Example: If parents filed their tax return in 2022 as ‘married, filing jointly’ and they are still married, only one parent will need to create an FSA ID. But in any situation where two parent tax returns will be required (‘married, filing separately’, divorced/remarried since 2022, etc.), both parents will need to create an FSA ID.
Parents with no social security number will now be able to create an FSA ID. We haven’t seen what this will look like yet, but it should all be announced before the release of the new FAFSA. A signature page will no longer be available.
Transcripts and Diplomas will be available in June. We will post when they are ready for pickup. Reminder that they need to be picked up and signed for in the HS office.
Reminder: Summer School for HS will start on Monday May 22nd and end on June 15th. Summer school runs Monday through Thursday except the week of Memorial Day where we will run Tuesday-Friday. It is daily from 8:15-12:00.
