Polar Express day at Art Goad Elementary. Mr Battles was in full character as he passed out golden "I Believe " tickets. Students used tickets to get hot chocolate with marshmallows and candy canes. Can you hear the bells ring?

Art Goad students took a short field trip to the Chelsea Fire station last week. The firefighters helped educate kids on fire safety and feeling comfortable with the firemen. Students were allowed to spray water from the hose and Mrs. Pauling, third-grade teacher, climbed the fire ladder on a truck!

One of the most important components of the JOM program is parent involvement. This October, parnets of JOM eligible students will have the opportunity to get involved in the development of the JOM program at their schools. Elections for the JOM Indian Education Committee will be held October 18, 2023 at the Chelsea Schools Superintendent's office beginning at 6:00 PM. To serve on the JOM IEC, a person must be the parent or guardian of a JOM verified child. School board members or spouses and school employees or spouses can not serve on the committee. For more information, contact Quintin Draeger at 918-789-2528.

Art Goad Elementary third grade teachers and students worked on a STEM project today. Students were required to work together in teams and use their engineering skills to build the tallest freestanding tower. Students first made a hypothesis on how tall they thought their tower could be. In small groups, together they had to construct their tower out of toothpicks and marshmallows. Then teachers and students measured the height of each tower and compared them to their hypothesis. Pauling , Douglas , and Culver said they were very proud of each team, and how they work together.

Promoting a Whole School Love of Reading Providing students with the motivation, encouragement, and accountability needed to read independently on a consistent basis helps them develop reading habits that will lead to increased confidence, improved reading skills, and opportunities to find books that they enjoy reading. Art Goad Elementary wants to inspire students to feel the pure joy and love of reading something they are interested in and not just a required reading assignment. Reading for pleasure is a habit fostered at a young age. Once a month Art Goad ES will have a “FOR THE LOVE OF READING” event where the whole school will celebrate reading through fun events. On Friday, September 29, 2023 students and teachers read a book outside of school; Nurture Nature. It was very peaceful and everyone Loved Reading today and the weather was beautiful!
