Art Goad Elementary Archery team coached by Darrell Anderson will be competing Thursday, February 23 in Tulsa at the OKNASP Grand State Tournament. The team qualified for state based upon their performance and scores in a qualifying tournament in three different tournaments this year
. Their flight time is set for 3pm at the Sagenet Center at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds. This is the first year for the elementary students to be offered archery in school. The students use a Genesis bow to shoot from 10 and 15 meters. Three rounds of five arrows from each distance for a total of six rounds and a maximum score of 300 per shooter. The Chelsea team is currently ranked in the top 10 in the state of Oklahoma. Eighteen fifth grade students from Chelsea will be attending the competition. Mr. Anderson state, "I am so proud of how far these kids have came this year and hope I can continue to work with them in the future."
Those students attending are: Braydon Anderson, Marshall Bible, Catherine Chambers, Ronny Cody, Kyle Culver, Max Green, Callie Hoskins, Harper Hughes, Emmett Jackson, Avery Jinkens, Brialee Layfield, Karson Mullis, Brendon Paris, Jett Smith, Texas Tatum, Bryson Wever, Sophia White, and Coulter Wilson. The community is encouraged to come out Thursday, February 23 at noon and line Main street in downtown Chelsea as we send these kids off to the state competition. Feel free to honk and cheer for them as they leave town.
