Chelsea, March 1, 2025 – Chelsea Public Schools is pleased to provide an update on the progress of the district’s construction bond project, which continues to move forward with exciting new developments. As part of our commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and community engagement, we have been working diligently to finalize plans, secure additional funding, and ensure all necessary approvals are in place for a truly transformative facility.

One of the most significant milestones in the project is our developing partnership with the Boys & Girls Club. Through this collaboration, the new facility will not only serve Chelsea Public Schools students during the school day but will also provide a state-of-the-art Teen Center for the Boys & Girls Club after hours. Lindsey Harris, Director of The Boys & Girls Club of Chelsea, says, “The Club is excited for this monumental opportunity to partner with our great school district. This is the first time in our state that a collaboration of this magnitude has taken place and I am optimistic this will pave the way for future partnerships all over our state. Our Board, Administration, and staff are looking forward to housing an incredible teen program in the new facility. Thank you to Superintendent Hagebusch, and the school board, for your unwavering commitment to our organization and the youth in our community. We are stronger together!”

The uniqueness of this new facility lies in its multi-purpose design. During the school day, the Chelsea Multi-Activity Center (C-MAC) will serve as a hub for academic growth, extracurricular activities, and student support services. After school hours, it will transform into a dynamic space for the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, offering enrichment programs and social opportunities. Additionally, the facility will be available for community use, reinforcing our dedication to creating a space that benefits all of Chelsea’s residents.

“This project is a game-changer for Chelsea Public Schools and our entire community,” Matt Hagebusch, Superintendent of Chelsea Public Schools. “This partnership with the Boys & Girls Club is an incredible opportunity for our students and community. The C-MAC will be a facility that will serve our youth and our families for years to come.”

We are grateful for the continued support of our community, stakeholders, and partners who are making this vision a reality. Chelsea Public Schools remains committed to keeping the public informed as we move closer to breaking ground on this project.
